摘要

Stream ciphers such as A5/1 and RC4rnare commonly used in communication systems tornprovide secrecy. However, these stream ciphers werernshown to be insecure in recent studies. This paperrnproposes a new approach in joint encryption andrnerror-correcting coding where the scheme integratesrna stream cipher to an error-correcting code tornachieve extra secrecy. Instead of encrypting on therninput or the output of an encoder, the coding state ofrnthe encoder is encrypted. The scheme can be appliedrnto Non-Systematic Turbo-Codes that exhibitrnexcellent error-correcting capabilities. Extensivernsimulations show that the coding performance of therncomponent algebraic code is preserved. Somernattacks to the scheme are studied.
