The objective of the inaugural address is to explain and persuade the audience to win their support. In John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address, the pledges and the requests he makes inspire American people. For a long time, this speech has been compared with the inaugural addresses of Washington, Jef erson and Lincoln by scholars. It is believed that the studies of this address are of great academic, aesthetic and practical values.The purpose of this paper is to analyze John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address at the syntactical level and how it takes ef ects.
