PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aliphatic compound having a trifluoromethoxy group improving the efficacy of a medicine, and a ketone group convertible into various structures, and to provide a method for producing the compound. PSOLUTION: The α-trifluoromethoxy ketone represented by general formula (1) is produced by hydrolyzing a fluoroformic acid ester obtained by reacting an epoxy compound with carbonyl fluoride (COFSB2/SB) to afford an alcohol body, and oxidizing the alcohol body. In the formula, RSP1/SPis a 1-20C alkyl group; RSP2/SPand RSP3/SPare each independently a 1-10C alkyl group, or one of RSP2/SPand RSP3/SPis a hydrogen atom and the other is a 1-10C alkyl group; two or more of RSP1/SP, RSP2/SPand RSP3/SPmay jointly form a cyclic structure by bonding two or more thereof.
