摘要

The development and operation of an opencast mine are determined by both external factors such as environment, neighbourhood, policy-makers and society, and by internal factors such as geology, drainage and opencast mine technology. The complex interplay of the associated processes requires carefully coordinated planning, scheduling and execution. The Hambach opencast mine has boundary conditions of a current depth of 400 m, deploys eight extraction machines using the maximum material removal geometry on seven extraction benches with high cut, high level as well as low cut and low level, has a dump development with seven spreaders from an outside dump and the superelevated inside dump up to the lake design and it operates approximately 110 km of belt conveyors, all of which means it is unsurpassed in the Rhenish mining area. The technical expertise and operational experience needed for this also feed into the different aspects of planning. The different tasks and requirements in the various roles thus require a high degree of conscientiousness and a diverse range of skills and abilities, which is depicted to some extent in Figure 1.
